Comedy murder mystery dinner events are a uniquely fun form of interactive
entertainment. These are important requirements when booking
to ensure a successful show.
No Surprise – Murder mystery dinners NEVER EVER work when they are a surprise to the guests. Guests must be told before the event that they will be participating in a murder mystery. Having an interactive comedy show thrust upon an unsuspecting crowd makes guests fear that they will be lampooned publicly. The majority of the crowd will then not get into the spirit of fun of the evening. This leads to poor treatment of the actors and bad feedback about your event planning skills.
Show In One Room - Murder mystery dinners have both staged and interactive mingling elements. The theatrical elements are actual scenes that introduce plot points and must be viewed by all guests at the same time.
Dinner Theatre - A murder mystery dinner is paced out over the course of dinner service (buffet or plated courses). Shows typically last 2 hours to 2.5 hours. It is not advisable to wait until the end of dinner service to start the show. Guests will simply start to leave. We want you to get the most value from the show, so why spend the money if guests have to leave because it’s getting too late?
Crew and Props - All shows include professional actors, a director, piano player, costumes, props, sound system, programs, bribe money and honorary detective certificates. You are not required to provide dinner for our personnel.
Music - A professional piano player is provided with your show. The pianist will play background music between scenes while actors are mingling and to accompany actors in musical numbers. The pianist can also be available during cocktail hour before the murder mystery begins (depending on event length). Some venues have a piano on premises. If your venue does not have a piano there will be an additional fee for the piano rental.
Green Room - The actors require a secure dressing area with no guest access but within close proximity to the performance room. This area is needed to change costumes, store personal belongs and props or hide when their character is "murdered". Restrooms are not an option as they are not a secure or an appropriate place for cast members to congregate. A Green Room can be a separate conference room, an office that will hold 5+ people at once, etc. If such rooms are not available, we can provide pipe and drape to make a temporary Green Room (additional fee will apply).
